I believe that the quintessential frosting for any cake is none other than cream cheese frosting. I will stand firm on that for as long as I live. It has just the right amount of sweetness paired with a slight tang that just perfectly compliments any cake.

My cream cheese frosting recipe is a staple and I literally use it on every cake, cupcake, and bundt cake I make. It goes with any flavor profile and compliments all cakes from fruity to rich and decadent. I love how versatile it is too–I can easily adapt it to anything I want (like when I made a delicious raspberry cream cheese frosting).

My recipe is SO simple and takes under five minutes to come together. All you have to do is beat together butter and cream cheese (I recommend making sure your butter and sugar are at room temperature). Then, beat in vanilla and powdered sugar (in small increments). Just remember to refrigerate until you’re ready to pipe your frosting and that’s literally it. So simple and so good. This recipe yields enough to frost twelve cupcakes , two 4″ mini cakes, and one 9″ cake.
