The career pathway of dietetics is dynamic and rapidly evolving. There are countless opportunities and the possibility of paving your way in the field. I am naturally curious–always seeking the why behind a problem. I am also very organized, a natural leader, and an intentional and compassionate person, which will support the skills required to be a successful dietitian.
As a future dietitian, I desire to truly impact people’s lives and make them feel seen by supporting them in finding individualized and sustainable nutrition and lifestyle applications. I want to help them find the source of their problems and walk with them as we build healthy lifestyles to help them heal. Functional and integrative nutrition is an emerging field in dietetics that seeks to identify the root cause of ailments and seek a scientifically-backed nutrition and lifestyle solution in collaboration with an integrated healthcare team as needed. As a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine Dietetic Practice Group, I have been able to immerse myself in the new research and resources that can support me in transforming the lives of my future clients.
I will complete my Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences in Dietetics with a minor in Culinary Science and Nutrition in December 2024. I will go on to complete my Master’s in Community Nutrition as well as my dietetic internship. Afterward, I plan to become a functional and integrative dietitian.
In the next 2-5 years, I intend to be working alongside a private practice dietitian and simultaneously exploring entrepreneurial opportunities in this field that integrate my passions for functional nutrition and culinary science.
